Line: Understory Enterprises

Ranitomeya benedicta "Shucushuyacu" hails from eastern Peruvian forests from 150 to 405m (mostly lowland). This frog is moderately social, quite shy, and does well in groups. They are EXREMELY fast, so be very careful when feeding or misting. There can be some egg eating between females, although this is rare. Females will generally lay 4 to 10 eggs under leaf litter or on a bromeliad leaf. Males will then usually transport tadpoles to a body of water. However, you may pull the eggs and raise them yourself. If left alone, the tadpoles can cannibalize. No more than a trio should go in a 10 gallon vertical conversion tank or a 12 x 12 x 18 ExoTerra tank, and we advise larger enclosures to prevent escapees. Please contact us with further questions.
