Build an instant Bucephalandra collection with the FrogDaddy Bucephalandra Booster Box, featuring four different Bucephalandra for just $34.99. Each box combines larger established plants with grower's-choice divisions, giving you multiple foliage types, colors, and growing points to distribute throughout an aquarium, paludarium, or tropical vivarium.

Every Booster Box includes:

1 larger rooted Bucephalandra 'Ketagang'

1 larger rooted Bucephalandra pygmaea

2 different grower's-choice Bucephalandra divisions

The additional varieties are selected from healthy FrogDaddy inventory and may include forms such as Brownie Purple, Grappa Red Mini, Brownie Phoenix Micro, Needle Leaf, Godzilla, Pink Lady, Mini Coin, Ketagang Mini Round, or other available Bucephalandra. Every box contains four different types, but the two grower's-choice selections will vary and cannot be guaranteed.

Bucephalandra are rheophytic aroids in the Araceae family endemic to Borneo in Southeast Asia. In nature, members of the genus inhabit humid rainforest streams and waterways, anchoring themselves tightly to rock and other hard surfaces. Changing water levels may leave colonies completely submerged during one period and growing emersed in humid rainforest air during another.

This amphibious ecology is what makes Bucephalandra so versatile in cultivation. They can be grown completely underwater in aquariums, around the waterline in paludariums, or fully emersed in high-humidity vivariums.

All Bucephalandra grow from a creeping rhizome. The rhizome should remain exposed rather than being buried deeply in substrate, while the roots can naturally penetrate moss, aquasoil, cracks in stone, and crevices in wood.

For naturalistic displays, attach the plants directly to lava rock, driftwood, cork bark, natural stone, tree fern fiber, or moss-covered hardscape. Over time, the roots secure themselves to the surface and the plants gradually develop into established colonies.

One of the biggest advantages of the Booster Box is variety. Depending on the selections included, foliage may range from tiny and rounded to narrow, elongated, or heavily textured. Colors can include green, bronze, burgundy, brown, purple, blue-green, and nearly black, while many forms produce particularly colorful red or copper-toned new growth.

Bucephalandra grow slowly, which is actually an advantage in vivarium design. Established plants can remain incorporated into the same hardscape for years without requiring constant pruning. Moderate filtered light, dependable moisture, high humidity for emersed culture, and good airflow generally provide excellent conditions.

In the Vivarium

Use the larger rooted Ketagang and pygmaea as anchor plants, then position the two smaller divisions elsewhere throughout the hardscape. This immediately creates four separate growing points and considerably more botanical diversity than planting several copies of the same variety.

Bucephalandra look especially natural emerging from moss-covered cork, stone, driftwood, waterfall rockwork, and humid crevices. Their compact growth pairs beautifully with mosses, Selaginella, miniature ferns, orchids, and other small tropical plants.

The Booster Box is ideal for dart frog vivariums, aquariums, paludariums, nano tanks, waterfall builds, and tropical hardscape displays.

Each $34.99 Booster Box contains four different Bucephalandra: one larger rooted Ketagang, one larger rooted pygmaea, and two additional grower's-choice divisions.

For biotope organization, Bucephalandra can confidently be associated with Borneo, Southeast Asia, and Asia. More precise locality information depends on the individual variety and documented provenance.

Whether you're starting your first Bucephalandra collection or adding diversity to an established enclosure, the FrogDaddy Booster Box offers an affordable way to explore several forms of these remarkable Bornean aroids in a single package.
