Ardisia gigantifolia
This Ardisia is a slow-growing species with leaves that contrast an electric green vein with shiny, chocolate brown foliage…truly a wicked contrast that almost glows with proper lighting (moderate to low). As you can imagine by the species name, this plant can get quite large but it is easy to control by lopping off the top of the plant and letting newer growth come out of the meristems lower on the plant. This plant is native to Vietnam, Thailand, and China. This is an incredibly stunning species and a must-have for a terrarium enthusiast. It does well in moderate, indirect light and moderate to high humidity.
These plants are rarely sold as cuttings, if so, they may or may not have aerial roots. We do NOT sell cuttings of this plant, only rooted specimens. Our rooted specimens will have at least a few active roots and will be established plants, mainly propagated from leaves, so please be aware the actual plant you receive may look a bit leggy, but it will grow out properly, we guarantee it. Our plants are grown in high humidity in terrariums and greenhouses, therefore may need acclimation to the average home humidity / environment. Please contact us for acclimation information if you are not planning to use this plant in a terrarium, greenhouse, or humid room.
