Derived from Bucephalandra populations native to the rainforest stream systems of Borneo, Bucephalandra ‘Ketagang Mini Round’ is a miniature rheophytic aroid prized for its exceptionally compact growth habit and attractive rounded foliage. Among the many Bucephalandra forms in cultivation, this variety stands out for its small, nearly circular leaves and tidy clumping growth, making it an outstanding choice for detailed vivarium and terrarium displays.

In nature, Bucephalandra species inhabit rocky stream banks where they grow attached to stone and wood in environments characterized by constant moisture, high humidity, and excellent airflow. These adaptations make them exceptionally well suited for tropical vivariums, where they can be mounted directly onto cork bark, driftwood, lava rock, tree fern, and background structures.

‘Ketagang Mini Round’ develops dense clusters of thick, durable foliage that remain attractive year-round. The rounded leaf shape creates a softer appearance than many narrow-leaf Bucephalandra varieties and provides an excellent visual contrast alongside mosses, miniature orchids, gesneriads, begonias, and other tropical epiphytes. Under favorable conditions, leaves may exhibit subtle metallic sheens and coloration shifts that become more pronounced with age.

Its miniature size makes this cultivar particularly valuable for nano vivariums, dart frog enclosures, and hardscape-focused builds where every inch of space matters. Unlike many larger tropical plants, it remains manageable for years while gradually forming increasingly attractive colonies through slow rhizomatous growth.

Once established, Bucephalandra ‘Ketagang Mini Round’ is remarkably forgiving and requires little maintenance beyond consistent moisture and stable humidity.
