Pilea involcrata is often called the Friendship Plant and is a fast growing species with amazing village leaves. This species hails from Central and South America. This Pilea does well in bright, indirect light and moderate humidity, but can tolerate lower light conditions. It does not require much ventilation. Moist soil and sphagnum moss are helpful for rooting this species. It roots quickly, and can be pruned to create plantlets and interesting structures. You can snip off just under wherever aerial roots form and replant it. These Pilea are easy to propagate.
All of our cuttings have adventitious, aerial roots. Our rooted specimens will have at least a few active roots and will be established plants. Our plants are grown in high humidity in terrariums and greenhouses, therefore may need acclimation to the average home humidity / environment. Please contact us for acclimation information if you are not planning to use this plant in a terrarium, greenhouse, or humid room.
