Philodendron sp. "Fuzzy Petiole" came in an import labeled verrucosum, but obviously isn’t. It is currently an unidentified species from Ecuador. It has amazing petioles that are covered in thick, fuzzy hairs, making this plant an extremely cool species to grow. Immature plants may not have pubescence. The leaves get around 6-8 inches for us, but can be smaller (as well as larger!). It does well in moderate, indirect light and moderate to high humidity, and appreciates airflow. Moist sphagnum moss is helpful for rooting this species.
All of our cuttings have adventitious, aerial roots. Our rooted specimens will have at least a few active roots and will be established plants. Our plants are grown in high humidity in terrariums and greenhouses, therefore may need acclimation to the average home humidity / environment. Please contact us for acclimation information if you are not planning to use this plant in a terrarium, greenhouse, or humid room.
