We are excited to start breeding D. hydei, per all of the requests from our customers. These cultures are not perfect, so for now we are only selling producing and developing to ensure production. These cultures will continue to produce for a few weeks. These cultures are made on HF GREENFUEL PRO OR HF GREENFUEL BLACK. You must use either of these medias to produce these flies, our GOLD and Black Diamond are not optimized for hydei.

Please read our DOA policies on flies under the information tab. Please review our fruit fly care sheet for additional information.

These cultures are approximately 20-25 days old, and will come with at least (approximately) 100-200 flightless D hydei fruit flies packed in FrogDaddy Hydei Media. It will continue to produce for another 14+ days, however, please throw out the culture after 14 days from reception to prevent potential mites. Always keep producing cultures away from freshly made cultures. If you are planning on making your own fruit fly cultures, use these producing cultures out of the mail immediately for seeding, then do not seed from them again. These "good practice" tips will help you succeed with fruit flies and keep mites at minimum. Our fruit fly cultures are always very low in mites, but we recommend doing your due diligence to keep your cycle clean.
