Cissus discolor

Cissus discolor is also known as the Rex Begonia Vine, but it is technically not a Begonia. It hails from Cambodia and Java. This plant can look many different ways...from green, to silver, to pink, with light or intense contrast. The first picture are our rooted specimens which usually show juvenile coloration. The second and third pictures are of a mother plant showing maximal coloration. The fourth and fifth pictures are other phenotypes in our enclosures. It is absolutely stunning and quite variable depending on maturity, light, and other growing conditions. This plant is stunning due to it's intensely contrasting venation and leaf pattern, coupled with a deep pink to purple tendril. It grows moderately quickly and can beautifully cover a background. It roots slowly, and may lose all of its leaves while rooting.
All of our cuttings have adventitious, aerial roots. Our rooted specimens will have at least a few active roots and will be established plants. Our plants are grown in high humidity in terrariums and greenhouses, therefore may need acclimation to the average home humidity / environment. Please contact us for acclimation information if you are not planning to use this plant in a terrarium, greenhouse, or humid room.
