Philodendron esmeraldense is a beautiful Philodendron with dark, leathery leaves. This plant is native to Carchi, Esmeraldas in Ecuador. These leaves get darker with time, so be patient, as they often start out lighter. Deep white ridges form on the mature foliage. This Philodendron grows well in moderate light and a moist, well draining substrate. This plant does well in vivaria but may never reach its full potential.
All of our cuttings have adventitious, aerial roots. Our rooted specimens will have at least a few active roots and will be established plants. Our plants are grown in high humidity in terrariums and greenhouses, therefore may need acclimation to the average home humidity / environment. Please contact us for acclimation information if you are not planning to use this plant in a terrarium, greenhouse, or humid room.
